Confidence is key and even seasoned leaders sometimes need a boost
Taking on a leadership role, a new project or preparing for a transition can undermine our confidence, but it does not have to be the case.
Build your confidence by connecting to your values and purpose. By understanding what you value and what the bigger picture, or larger goal is, you connect with your why, and that can help give meaning to a new task. It can also help bolster your courage.
Draw energy from your past successes. Recall a time when you were in the flow - what did it feel like, look like, sound like? What inner resources/strengths did you utilize? Did you seek advice from a trusted mentor or friend? How did that help you? Take a moment to jot down your past successes and any praise you may have received, as a result. Tuck that information away in a safe place so you can revisit it when you need to reenergize.
Practice self-empathy. It’s natural to want to get everything right the very first time, but remember that trying something new means that learning is involved. What would you say to a friend or loved one who is in a similar situation? Treat yourself with that same kindness and support.
